Home Based Services

Bihani implements a Client/Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) Approach where the client/patient and family are “equal partners in planning, developing and monitoring care to make sure it meets their needs. This means putting people and their families at the centre of decision making” (Health Innovation Network South London) ensuring services provided are relevant and productive. As part of this approach, we have hold a consultant meeting with the client/patient and their families to develop on agreement and prescribed course of action.

  • Exercises – Tai chi, Qi gong and other general exercises
  • Capacitar techniques – Breathwork, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Head Neck Shoulder Release, Drum Massage, Basic Tai Chi and Self Massage
  • Learning/teaching Yoga
  • Walking/strolling together
  • Art Therapy and Origami
  • Pyscho Social Support/counseling (PSS)
  • Basic level mobile phone operation (one at a time) – check charging, receiving and ending calls
  • Intermediate level mobile phone operation (one at a time) – recharging, sms, dialing numbers
  • Learning how to use Mobile Apps (one at a time) –Facebook, WhatsApp/ Viber, Hamro Patro, YouTube
  • Music – Listening together or watching together (bhajans, songs nostalgia therapy)
  • Cooking activities – Teaching, learning or engaging in cooking could be as simple as making tea together
  • Language classes
  • Reading Activities – Reading books together or reading for the client
  • Engaging/Learning Dance – (Bollywood, kathak, zumba or any form)
  • Physiotherapy
  • Befriending/ Company: Giving company and doing whatever the client wants to example, watching TV, going through her photo albums, having a conversation, making tea together etc.
  • Vocational development counselling/enterprise development
  • Linking to various Health@Home Services – caregiver, nurses, doctors
  • Blogging for elders – Creating and managing blogs
  • Writing Activities
  • Other: as per need

Health Sessions

We organize health camps, informative sessions and group classes specifically focused on the needs of elders. For example, we have hosted events with the Menopause Society of Nepal (MESON) focusing on reproductive health issues for elders. We also partnered with NEPAN’s Jorpati Older People Association to conducted two 15-day Taichi programs for 100 or more of their older members. Read more about it:
