Sharing thoughts of our dear Bihani Saathi Ko Saathi & Resource Pool Member Mrs. Pramila Bajracharya regarding how she has been taking care of elders during lockdown.
“As soon as we were aware that elders are at higher risk from Covid-19 and are the most vulnerable population, we cut down the flow of visitors in our care home. The most challenging issues faced by senior citizens during lockdown is loneliness. As our residents’ family could not visit them at the care home due to unavoidable circumstances, we ensured to connect them through means of online social platforms for communication and also to keep them busy. Since, we work for elderly with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, the first thing we did as a factor for caring was conduct an interactive workshop for the residents facilitated by doctors from Patan Hospital. The workshop covered the type, definition and precautions of Covid-19.”
