ANIL CHITRAKAR

Anil is a trained Engineer and Energy Planner who has received the Ashoka fellowship, the Rolex Award and the Silicon Valley Tech Award for his work. He is a renowned Social Entrepreneur and also the Co-founder of Himalayan Climate Initiative. Anil has also written a book called ”Take the Lead (Nepal’s future has begun)” which is dedicated to everyone who still believes in Nepal and the collective wisdom and entrepreneurial spirit of the Nepali people.

ASHUTOSH TIWARI

Early in his career, Ashutosh became a grassroots activist in rural far western Nepal in Dang, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur and Banke districts. For about 2 years, together with colleagues at Backward Society Education (BASE), he worked as a strategist on a social movement that led to the freedom of about 200,000 bonded agricultural Tharu labourers in July 2000. Convinced that for-profit businesses enabled the poor to take charge of their lives, from 2001 to 2007, he advised a range of small businesses in Nepal and Bangladesh as an employee of the German Technical Co-operation (GTZ), and of World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC).  In 2007, he joined Himalmedia as the CEO, where his tasks were to lead a workforce of 100+ employees, negotiate with politically-affiliated militant trade unions, and turn around the company, both operationally and financially. After successfully accomplishing his tasks at Himalmedia, he joined WaterAid in 2010 as its Nepal head. He is also a co-founder of Entrepreneurs for Nepal (E4N). E4N brings entrepreneurs together for monthly discussions, networking events, boot camps, advisory sessions and investment opportunities. In 2011, World Economic Forum honoured him as a Young Global Leader.

DR. MANJU TULADHAR THAPA

Dr Manju Tuladhar is an experienced programme manager and policy analyst in areas of gender empowerment and social inclusion.  She has advised a variety of clients ranging from academia and policy makers to practitioners in government and civil society. She has advised clients in renewable energy and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors for SNV Netherlands Development Organisaton in Nepal and demonstrated strategic ability in reviewing approaches for mainstreaming gender and social inclusion. She led the Social Inclusion Research Fund funded by the Norwegian Embassy in Kathmandu and has successfully facilitated capacity building of researchers in Nepal.  She has worked for over seventeen years with various international and national development agencies in Nepal in human rights, social development and governance and holds a PhD in Public Policy from University of Birmingham, England. Currently, she is the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Adviser at USAID Nepal.

NUGAL ANANDA VAIDYA

Nugal Ananda Vaidya is the Public Relations Chief of Rotary International Nepal. He is also a Board Member of NPBCL (Nepal Purbadhar Bikash Company Limited), Member of the Federation of Contractor’s Association of Nepal (FCAN), Member Secretary of Construction Industry Training Centre (CITC), Member Secretary of Kathmandu Valley Ring Road Greenery Program, Board Member of Complex Developers and Leaser’s Association and past President of the Rotary Club of Mt. Everest, Lalitpur. He is also the member of Newa Nuga, Secretary General, Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital – Smriti Bhawan Committee  and Chairman of  Nepal Trust.

RITA THAPA

Rita Thapa has over thirty years of experience as a feminist educator and community activist.    She founded and led Tewa (Septemeber 1995 – June 2001 http://www.tewa.org.np), the Nepal Women’s Fund, and Nagarik Aawaz (July 2001- November 2009 www.nagarikaawaz.org.np).  Besides, she has been one of the key women behind the founding and grounding of WEAN (1988), Shantimalika (2003) and Sankalpa (2006/7).

Rita is a past board member and Chair of the Global Fund for Women, USA, and served on the Executive Board of the Urgent Action Fund, USA. She was named an Ashoka Fellow (1997-98), Dame Nita Barrow Distinguished Visitor at the University of Toronto (2002), and was nominated as one of the 1000 peace women around the globe.  She currently serves on the Executive Board of the South Asia Women’s Fund (SWAF), the Global Fund for Community Foundations, and represents Tewa on the Foundations for Peace inernational network.She is academically trained in gender and development at IDS, Sussex and in peace and conflict studies from the ACTS & Panasastra University, Cambodia.

DR. SAKET B. THAKUR

Saket B. Thakur has over twenty five years of experience in the social sector. He holds a PhD in Social Anthropology and has worked as a Researcher at CNAS, Tribhuwan University. He moved to Dhaka to join CIRDAP/FAO as a Researcher (PG) and has worked as a Consultant in both national and international agencies and was a member of the Social Inclusion Research Fund. At present, he is a member of the Ad-hoc Social Science Research Council.

UPENDRA PRASAD ADHIKARY

Upendra Prasad Adhikary, is currently the Joint-Secretary in the Ministry of Women Children and Social Welfare, Nepal. He has over twenty five years of experience working with the Government of Nepal in different positions. He has a Masters in  Sociology ( TU) ,Diploma in Demography (IIPS,Mumbai),B.Ed.(PU) and has received professional training from East West Center (Hawaii),JHU(Baltimore),ITC (Holland) and BKKBN(Indonesia).
